Financial Fitness Fair

When: April 17, 2010 from 9:00 AM to 2:05 PM

Where: Percy L Julian High School, 10330 S Elizabeth St, Chicago, IL 60643

Who: High school students accompanied by an adult and teachers of financial literacy. CPDUs are available for teachers.

What: A half-day conference with multiple sessions on a variety of financial topics. Topics include paying for college, saving, credit, and investing, to name but a few. We will also have a keynote speaker, giveaways, exhibits and lunch, which is included free of charge for all attendees.

ONLINE! Preliminary Round of Competition
Takes place between March 1 through 12, 2010

Econ Illinois, formerly the Illinois Council on Economic Education, will host the online preliminary round of the Illinois Personal Finance Challenge (IPFC) competition in March. High School teachers throughout the state are invited to register. All high school teachers and their students are eligible for the competition which is designed to support coursework that satisfies/meets the Illinois Consumer Education mandate.

To participate in the 2010 program, teachers must fill out an initial teacher registration online before the end of the day - February 1, 2010. Winners from each of five (5) regions of the state will advance to the State Championship competition. IPFC is endorsed by Illinois State Treasurer, Alexi Giannoulias.

State Championship Competition
Wednesday, April 21, 2010

Twenty qualifying student teams and their teachers will advance to the State IPFC Championship which will be held at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. Three rounds of competition in the morning will lead up to the top scoring teams competing in the afternoon quiz bowl final round which leads to the announcement of the State Championship team and the Second Place team. Prizes will be awarded to both First and Second Place teams and their teachers. Travel Stipends are available for full-day attendees that qualify.

NEW for 2010! National Championship Competition

State Champions from all participating states will qualify to compete in the first National Personal Finance Challenge which will be held at the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City.
